The City of Toronto Open Data website is a good place to start when looking for GIS data about the City of Toronto. It is a catalogue of over 200 geospatial and numeric data sets that are produced by the City and are available to download. The data sets are availalble for these topics: business, community services, ward boundaries, culture and tourism, development and infrastructure, environment, finance, garbage and recycling, health, locations, parks and recreation, permits and licenses, public safety, transportation, TTC, and water. Scholars Geoportal provides access to large scale geospatial data sets, as well as sophisticated search, discovery and analysis tools to make the data readily available to Ontario University researchers. There are a large variety of data resources about Toronto in Scholars Geoportal published by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Toronto Region Conservation Authority, Statistics Canada, DMTI Spatial, and other producers. You will be able to find data such as orthophotography, road network files, points of interest, landuse, census boundaries, ecology, hydrology, health services, and much more.

The York University Map Collection actively acquires licensed geospatial data (vector data and imagery) for the York University community, for research and educational purposes. These data sets can be ordered via the GAIA data request system and is only available to current staff, students, and faculty at York University. The data is delivered electronically by the end of the following working day.

LiDAR data set produced by Airborne Imaging covering the City of Toronto is derived from the Airborne Imaging LiDAR Greater Toronto Area data library. The data was captured in Spring 2014/2015 and is distributed in ΒΌ km square tiles. The LiDAR data products available in this data set are: [1] Point Cloud LIDAR Data: LAS Format; [2] Digital Terrain Model (1 metre Grids) of Bare Earth and Full Feature: XYZ ASCII Format; [3] Hillside Images, Bare Earth and Full Feature: GeoTIFF Format; [4] 50 cm Contours, Bare Earth: Shapefile format. The data are distributed with basic metadata, detailed metadata, and reports. To order the LiDAR data consult the Index map, submit a data request via GAIA, and specify which tiles and products you need.
