The All in One Search Box
Omni All in One Search Box

A Simple Search for Everything!

Searching in Omni is simple. Let's use a famous Canadian-American to understand the power of an Omni search.

If you wanted to write a paper on Buffy Sainte-Marie, singer, songwriter, composer, educator and activist, you will have a wide range of resources to choose from. Here are some possibilities:

  • Her music recordings
  • Her television appearances
  • Her songs and compositions
  • Newspaper articles about her
  • Magazine articles about her
  • Academic journal articles about her and her work

Omni will find them all. To get the greatest number and variety of results, the Search Scope will be York Libraries + Omni Libraries. Our topic is best searched like so:

There are more than 600 results. To get specific resources, such as those required in an assignment, you will need to learn about Facets. Take a look at the Facets box so you can power up your search in Omni.

Books and Articles are the most commonly used Resource Types. However, there is so much available at York and the Omni Libraries. Using the Facets will save time. There is one Facet that you need to use carefully. Under the Facet Availability, there is an option to limit to Peer-Reviewed Journals. Please read the linked box to learn more about this useful but somewhat misleading limit.
