    The International Social Science Council ( ISSC ) is an international non-profit-making scientific organisation with headquarters at UNESCO House in Paris. It is the primary international body representing the social and behavioural sciences at a global level.

    The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) is the federal agency that promotes and supports postsecondary-based research and training in the humanities and social sciences.
  • Social Science Research Council
    The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) is an independent nonprofit organization devoted to the advancement of social science research and scholarship. Founded in New York City in 1923 as the world’s first national coordinating body of the social sciences, it is today an international resource for interdisciplinary, innovative public social science.

Research Institutions

Research institutes are organizations that specifically focus on enhancing our knowledge of a given discipline, disorder, or subject through intense research.  These highly specialized institutions may be involved in scientific, data and statistics, or social science research initiatives.

  • Institute for Social Research - York University  Icon
    The Institute for Social Research houses the largest university-based survey research centre in Canada. The centre provides expert consulting in social statistics, offers a range of short courses on statistics and social research, and operates York's Research Data Centre.
