The sample will search pure Canadian M&As (both target and acquiror companies are from Canada) in Materials, Energy and Power, Real Estate and Financial industries that took place in 2011
Double click SDC Platinum icon on your desktop 
to login.
Step 1: Select Database:
- Select Mergers & Acquisitions > check US and Non-US Targets > OK
Step 2: Set the date range
- Select the Custom radio button > set date from 01/01/2011 to 31/12/2011 > click OK
Step 3: Set Search Criteria
In the Search Items pop-up window under the Company tab,
- Double click Target Nation > double click the + sign in front of North America > double click Canada > OK
- Double click Acquiror Nation > double click the + sign in front of North America > double click Canada > OK
- Double click Target Macro Industry > double click Energy and Power/Financials/Healthcare/Materials/Real Estate > hit OK > Close
Step 4: Create a Report
- For standard report, click

on the icon bar; click the Example button in the lower right corner of the dialog box to view the report template.
- For custom report, select Report from the top menu bar > New Custom > select variables > OK > OK >save the report template > OK .
- Click Execute button
to view the report
- Click the Save button
to download the report in Excel
