Using authentic First Peoples voice is one part of helping to address colonial legacies, ensuring that First Peoples’ cultures and perspectives are portrayed accurately and authentically, and providing opportunities for diverse First Nations, Métis, and Inuit voices in Canada to be recognized and celebrated.

The inclusion of authentic First Peoples content into classrooms supports all students in developing an understanding of the significant place of First Peoples within the historical and contemporary fabric of this province and provides culturally relevant materials for Indigenous learners in British Columbia.
English First Peoples 10–12 Teacher Resource Guide (2018)
The FNESC/FNSA English First Peoples 10-12 Teacher Resource Guide (2018) is designed provide support for the British Columbia’s English First Peoples 10-12 curriculum. It includes diverse units, lessons and activities to support the revised EFP 10-12 and ELA 10-12 curriculum using dynamic, rich written, oral, visual, and digital First Peoples literature/text, and reflects evolving educational practice.

Four Directions Teacher's Resource Kit
An educator’s guide to optimizing learning applications based on the Four Directions website. The curricula attached to the website include lesson plans designed to maximize opportunities for classroom activities that are immediately connected to the teachings found on the site. The lesson plans have been developed for junior grades (1-6), intermediate grades (7-9), and senior grades (10-12).

Math First Peoples (rev. 2020)
The Math First Peoples Teacher Resource Guide is designed for teachers of Mathematics in British Columbia . It has been developed by the First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC), supported by the BC Ministry of Education and it is grounded in the view that increased student success can be achieved through adjustments in pedagogy and approach that make mathematics feel more inclusive and engaging.

The 2020 revision of this document also supports implementation of the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, specifically the call to “integrate Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods into classrooms” (clause 62) and “build student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect” (clause 63).
Science First Peoples (Grade 5–9)
The FNESC/FNSA Science First Peoples (5-9) Teacher Resource Guide provides educators with resources to support the integration of the rich body of First Peoples (unappropriated) knowledge and perspectives into Science, and other curricular areas. The guide includes background information on how First Peoples’ perspectives in science can be recognized and included in science inquiry. It also offers curriculum planning suggestions, and provides examples of fully developed multi-grade thematic units that correspond with the BC curriculum.

It is recognized that the wealth of First Peoples’ science knowledge is held by communities. The guide can be used in conjunction with locally based resources that are developed by or in collaboration with, local communities.
Secondary Science First Peoples Teacher Resource Guide (2019)
The guide includes background information regarding how First Peoples’ knowledge and perspectives in science can be recognized and included in science inquiry. It also offers curriculum planning suggestions, and provides examples of fully developed units that correspond with the Big Ideas and Learning Standards in the BC Provincial Science Curriculum for grades 10 to 12.

Weaving Indigenous Education into Your Practice: A Teacher's Resource Guide
This virtual guide comprises a playlist of five video chapters, which illustrate how teachers can weave interviews, videos, and lesson plans from NCCIE.CA into their practices. Elementary and secondary teachers who are new to Indigenous education can use this guide when introducing Indigenous lesson plans into their classrooms and land-based learning.

The lesson plans in this guide come mostly from Ontario. If you wish to adapt a lesson plan to another jurisdiction, please see Chapter 4 (time stamp 51:41 - 1:17:40) where two teachers describe their process of adapting a lesson plan from another jurisdiction to local Indigenous Peoples and Ministry documents. To assist you in this process, a checklist has been created.

The five chapters are divided into a total of 23 sections, each with time stamps for ease of access.
