Discover items available at York Libraries or browse the collections of partner libraries. There are currently 18 OMNI libraries across the province to choose from.

Below is a selection of featured eBook collections that may be of interest.

Research Tips

Searching in OMNI

Use the OMNI online search tool to find eBooks and print books at York Libraries. You can even browse collections at other OMNI Libraries (i.e., Guelph, uOttawa, Queens, etc.).

To limit to a specific library location, refine the search scope options. For instance, select York Libraries, York Libraries + OMNI Libraries, or Course Reserves.

For more OMNI pointers, like how to build an effective search, visit the OMNI training guide.

Finding Print Books & eBooks

To print or read an eBook through the OMNI search tool, click the "Available online" link in the item record.

For print books, the location and call number (e.g., P 96 15 F56 2018) will help you retrieve an item on the shelves.

Reading Call Numbers

Only print books are assigned a call number. It works a bit like an address, helping you find a book on the shelves.

Books on the same subject are housed together, because of the Library of Congress (LC) classification system

E.g., P 96 15 F56 2018

P = Find the P section on the 2nd floor of the Frost Library
96.15 = On the shelves there will be ranges listed (e.g., P 53-123)
F56 = Read this line alphabetically, then numerically
2018 = This is the publication date (it can help you consider the information currency)
