Research Metrics

Research metrics are quantitative measures that can help you in assessing research outputs, at both article level and at journal level. Use the resources on this page to help you understand what they are and how to use them, whether you’re looking to publish your research, editing a journal or guiding colleagues who need more information.

Investments in Open Access Publishing@YUL

York University Libraries (YUL) supports open access publishing at the university by:

  • Entering into agreements with publishers to secure article processing charge discounts for York authors.
  • Maintaining memberships and funding commitments with organizations such as the Public Knowledge Project and the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition to support open access publishing nationally and internationally.
  • Providing open access publishing infrastructure for York-affiliated journals through York Digital Journals
  • Managing YorkSpace, York University’s open access institutional repository, which supports York researchers in complying with open access policy requirements.
  • More information APC discounts, read and publish agreements, and funding partnerships that support open access publishing.

Research Data Management @ YUL

Research data management (RDM) refers to the processes applied through a research project’s lifecycle that guide the collection, documentation, storage, sharing and preservation of research data.
The three federal research funding agencies—the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) (the agencies)—have developed the Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy, which aims to support Canadian research excellence by fostering sound digital data management and data stewardship practices.
