Accessing E-Resources (Research Databases)

  • Acccess to E- Resources/Databases
Alumni privileges do not include offsite access to licensed electronic material (i.e. databases and ejournals), or on-site access to licensed resources that require York authentication.

Alumni must come into a library branch to request a guest account that will enable access to e-resources.

    Guest Accounts

Guest accounts are issued upon request at public service desks. Acceptable Use Guidelines for Electronic Resources apply and stipulate that usage must be for non-commercial purposes.

The guest account is valid for the day it is generated and it does not apply to the wireless network. Government-issued photo ID (excluding Health cards) is required to issue a guest account.

Guest accounts enable alumni to access databases via the public computers located in all library branches.

Alumni Borrowing Privileges

  • Alumni Library Cards
York alumni may purchase a library card for $25.00. The card is valid for one year from date of issue. Further details on borrowing privileges are available via the York Library's Borrow Privileges page.

Borrowing privileges do not include access to course reserves or inter-library loans.
  • Interlibrary Loan
Alumni borrowing privileges do not extend to interlibrary lending from non- York libraries.

Printing and Photocopying Access

Guest printing and photocopying is available when an alumni purchases a guest print/copy card on site in the library.  The card value can be recharged.
