Business Resources for Alumni: Accessing Bronfman Business Library Resources

Alumni Access

Alumni privileges do not include off-site access to licensed electronic material, such as databases. Instead, alumni must come into a library branch to request a daily guest account that will enable on-site access to e-resources.

To request a guest account:

  1. Come to the circulation desk in the Bronfman, Frost, Scott, or Steacie Libraries.
  2. Request a guest account and provide a valid piece of government-issued photo ID (excluding health cards).
  3. Use your guest account at a campus workstation until the end of the day.

Please note that the Acceptable Use of E-Resources agreement stipulates that access is for non-commercial use and research needs. Under this agreement, it is normally not acceptable to:

  • Sell or re-distribute content, or provide access to someone outside of the university community, such as an employer
  • Engage in systematic or substantial printing, copying or downloading of content (such as entire journal issues, financial and/or datasets, etc.)
  • Share content with people other than current York University faculty, staff, and students
  • Post actual content or articles to web sites or listservs, private (e.g. a corporate intranet) or public
  • Modify or alter the content of licensed resources in any way

Users who breach license agreements may lose access to resources and may face other disciplinary or legal consequences. Misuse may also result in loss of access to a given resource for the entire York University community.

York U alumni may apply an Alumni Association Card at the Alumni Office Once you have your alumni card you can purchase a Library card for $25.00 at any library branch.  Cards are valid for one year from the date of purchase.

For more information consult the Alumni borrowing privileges section of the library web site.

Alumni can purchase a guest card from the YU-card fill stations located outside of the Print and Copy Centre in Scott Library. These stations have cash options only for adding funds. There are nearby ATMs within Central Square.

For more information about these services, please visit the Print, Copy, Scan page.
