Issues with Criterion

Known Issues

There have been reports of challenges accessing films from Criterion On Demand. These issues vary depending on the browser being used. Potential solutions to known issues are to the right.

Browser Compatibility

 

  • Clear the browser cookies/cache/data and restart browser. 

  • Update and restart browser.

  • Disable Adblocking and Pop-Up Blockers for streaming media sites.

  • If using Microsoft Edge, ensure that Hardware Acceleration is enabled within browser settings. 

  • Criterion-on-Demand uses Digital Rights Management (DRM) software that requires Silverlight in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

    • If you are using Google Chrome, Safari or Mozilla Firefox Silverlight is NOT required. However, these browsers must be set up to play DRM restricted videos in the browser's settings.

    • Older versions of Firefox may display an error message. 

  • Films from 20th Century Fox are restricted to viewing on campus only.

  • Criterion-on-Demand does not support playback of feature films via screensharing apps such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, and others.
