Research data management concerns the organization of data, from its entry to the research cycle through to the dissemination and archiving of valuable results. Research Data Management (RDM) is part of the research process, and aims to make the research process as efficient as possible, and meet expectations and requirements of the university, research funders, and legislating bodies.
The three federal research funding agencies—the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) (the agencies)—have launched the
Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy, which aims to support Canadian research excellence by fostering sound digital data management and data stewardship practices.
