Accessing to the Bloomberg Terminals

Note: Bloomberg's data license is very restrictive. Data downloaded from Bloomberg must remain on the same terminal from which it is accessed. It cannot be moved to your personal computer.

All terminals are located in the Bronfman Business library and can be booked via this online booking calendar.

What's in this guide

Welcome to York University's Bloomberg guide. This guide provides useful information to get you started with Bloomberg. Bloomberg is a real-time financial service that provides current and historical data, news and financial analysis of companies, stocks, bonds and indices. Key economic statistics are also available. It is available on four standalone workstations (and two loaning Bloomberg laptops) in the Bronfman Business Library. You can book a time to use this database through Bloomberg Bookings (up to two hours each person per day).

Each page (Equities, Bonds, Industries, Indicies, Commodities) has the same basic outline structure:

  • on the left a list of the Common Commands
  • in the centre Getting Started instructions and a screengrab
  • on the right:
    • the top box includes a Bronfman guide of the common commands, related step-by-step navigation and screengrabs
    • the bottom box includes Bloomberg cheatsheets or other relevant guides.
