Citations & Chicago Style

When determining the appropriate formatting for a citation on the notes and bibliography page:

1. Identify the source type (book; journal article; online article)

2. Find the appropriate citation examples on the Chicago Manual of Style Citation Guide: https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-1.html

Chicago Style

Chicago Style is widely used by historians. In this course, please use the notes and bibliography style with endnotes, not footnotes.

Annotated Bibliography

An annotated bibliography is an alphabetical list of research sources (e.g. Books, articles, etc.) with a concise summary of the content and an assessment of its relevance.
