Generally, "cognitive computing" refers to tools or platforms that mimic the human brain and which can be used to assist human decisionmaking. However, there is currently no universally-accepted definition for cognitive computing. Examples of cognitive computing usage include hospital care management systems, cognitive business process management in banking, cognitive analysis technologies in customer service, and the use of use sensor data, GPS information and previous experience in developing autonomous vehicles. A very well-known example of cognitive computing is IBM Watson, a computer system that can answer questions posed in natural language, seen here in an early prototype version.
