Health Canada is the federal department responsible for helping the people of Canada maintain and improve their health. This site provides a wealth of information on health care in Canada, as well as conditions and diseases, health protection and more.

The food intake pattern recommended in the revised Food Guide is based on current nutritional science. The pattern has been developed to meet nutrient standards (Dietary Reference Intakes) and to be consistent with evidence linking diet to a reduced risk of chronic diseases. The food intake pattern describes the types and amounts of foods that should be eaten.

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is the Government of Canada's agency responsible for funding health research in Canada in: targeted priority areas; building research capacity in population health and health services research; training in health research; knowledge translation from research into policies, practices, procedures, products and services.

The Institute of Aboriginal Peoples' Health (IAPH) fosters the advancement of a national health research agenda to improve and promote the health of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in Canada, through research, knowledge translation and capacity building. The Institute's pursuit of research excellence is enhanced by respect for community research priorities and Indigenous knowledge, values and cultures.
