This research guide provides information on how to access Geospatial (GIS) data at York University.

GIS Software at York University Map Library

There are three workstations at the Map Library that have the following GIS and statistical software and applications:

  • ArcGIS Desktop 10.8.2
  • ArcGIS Pro 2.9 1
  • QGIS 3.16
  • Google Earth Pro
  • R and R-Studio
  • Beyond 20/20 (application used for Statistics Canada data in .ivt format)
  • GIMP 2.10 (image processing tool)

(1)To access ArcGIS Pro, the user needs an active ESRI account in which access to ArcGIS Pro has been enabled. ArcGIS Pro is only available to students/faculty members affiliated with the Lassonde School of Engineering and the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change.
