Maps and Atlases: Air Photos

This guide helps you find maps and atlases that can be used in course assignments, or for your research.

Air Photos at York University Map Collection

To find the air photos you need, click on the link to the index map. Zoom in to the appropriate area on the map. Click on each marker to obtain the title of each air photo. The air photos are located in the two vertical filing cabinets by the emergency exit (west side of the Map Collection). If you need assistance, please go to the Ask Us desk entrance to the Scott Library. Digital copies for the 1946,1954, and 1971 photos can be requested via our GAIA request services. 

Photo Maps at York University Map Collection

York University has a collection of 12 series of photomaps. A photomap is a large format aerial photograph printed on paper. Please note, digital copies are not available.

Locating a photo map at the York University Map Library:
1. From the list below, determine what year you need, and click on the link to view the index map.
2. Open the index map in a PDF viewer, zoom in on the index map to your area of interest, and find the name of the photomap that you need
3. Visit the Map Library, and locate photo map using the call number. The photo maps are stored in map cabinets #25, 29, 31 and 32.
