Laptop borrowing

All York University currently registered students, faculty, and staff who are library users in good standing (i.e., no outstanding fines or liabilities over $25.00) may borrow a laptop. Visit the Laptop Borrowing page for detailed information and policy.

  • First come, first served basis.
  • May be borrowed for up to 24 hours.
  • Cannot reconfigure browsers or install personal software.
  • Only a very limited number of laptops are available.

Phone charging stations

  • Two stations available at Scott. One station available at Bronfman, Frost, and Steacie
  • Each station is secured by creating a PIN number and can only be reopened using the same PIN number
  • Locker window is red when in use and green when it is available
  • Each station has most cables, including Apple's lightning cable, USB micro and USB-C

Borrowing requirements

  • Most tech items are on Reserve, meaning they can only be borrowed for a short period of time during the day. The borrowing period for reserve items is noted in the catalogue record for each item.
  • Patrons may see a list of their Checked Out items online, but this list may show only the due date of some reserve items, and not the time they are due.
