The Copyright Support Services Department provide a copyright review service for course materials for instructors using a YorkU Learning Management Systems (such as e-Class, Moodle and Canvas) or distributing course readings as class handouts. We provide Copyright services to ALL faculty and administrative members at York University.
The purpose of our service is to ensure course materials posted to a York University operated LMS are copyright compliant. Simply email the bibliographic information for each selection you would like to include to copy@yorku.ca. Staff will:
We also offer Copyright presentation which focuses on copyright practices at YorkU and the options available to instructors for their course materials whether they choose to use textbooks and course packs or digital resources on their Learning Management Systems (LMS). These include eResources from the York Libraries, Fair Dealing, Public Domain, content licensed under Creative Commons and Open Access, Internet content, Instructor created content and obtaining permissions from rights holders.
